Gala helps empower women in Malawi

An event that educates people and unites the community—the Emmanuel International Canada Gala Dinner and Auction is a remarkable opportunity to make a difference. This year’s event will highlight the Titukule Azimai (Empower Women) project, a four-year initiative aimed at advancing women’s equality in Malawi and combating gender-based violence.

Guests can look forward to an exciting evening featuring both silent and live auctions, offering coveted items such as Toronto Maple Leafs tickets, household goods, gift certificates, and more.

Dinner will be a special treat, curated by world-class executive chef Donald Williams, who will infuse the menu with vibrant Malawian flavours, adding a unique cultural touch to the evening.

The night’s program promises to be as inspiring as it is enlightening. Attendees will hear from key speakers, including Arthur Kamoto, the Project Manager for Titukule Azimai in Malawi, and Charles Mukiwa, the Country Director for Emmanuel International Malawi. Both will share powerful stories and insights from their work in Malawi.

Highlights from the Women Empower team will be shared, including firsthand experiences from Joella Reitma, Program Manager for Titukule Azimai. Reflecting on her time in Malawi, Reitsma notes, “Going to Malawi allowed me to see just the way the organization works at a grassroots level. It is Malawians who are passionate about running this project and that’s the way international development should be.”

“Everyone together, mingling, and hearing about the project in Malawi, changes lives. People can learn the work that Emmanuel International Canada is doing around the world, and being able to connect is a huge asset,” says Kristy Nowel, public engagement director at EI Canada.

EI Canada assists in poor communities around the globe through church agencies. Changing lives is what this project and company bring to the world, and with continuing support from the community, it can lead to a better life for women in Malawi.

The event will be held on October 26 at Springvale Church, with doors opening at 4:45 p.m. For more information about the project and purchasing tickets, visit eicanada.org.
