A showcase of timeless cars returns to Stouffville
The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is gearing up to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the Stouffville Museum’s Antique and Classic Car Show on Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre.
In 1973, the annual car show began as a fundraiser to support the then-newly established museum. Proceeds helped fund educational programming, operations, collections, and exhibitions.
Residents can look forward to seeing over 400 vintage vehicles that tell stories of eras and cultural importance. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite vehicle, with the winner receiving a special trophy.
Grant Iwasa, one of the regular car participants, highlights the significance of community car shows: “The community at large benefits as the majority of the owners I have spoken with live in the region. Besides local clubs, the shows that the community sponsors bring us an opportunity to show our cars. Many of them are of historic significance and go back to more than 80 years. Some are European, domestic and Asian makes that are very meticulously restored.”
The family-fun event also includes children’s activities, food, music, and access to the museum’s historic buildings.
