Smile Cookie campaign raises funds for FBYR

The 30th anniversary Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign raised a record-breaking $23.3 million this year for nearly 700 local charities and community groups, including The Food Bank of York Region (FBYR).

Each year for the Smile Cookie campaign, participating Tim Hortons sell their signature Smile Cookies for one week, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to local charities sponsored. In 2026, many Tim Hortons restaurants in York Region sponsored the Food Bank of York Region, which is the food distribution hub for the region.

Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons, commented: “When the first Smile Cookie was sold in 1996, no one could have imagined we’d one day be celebrating more than $174 million raised in the program’s history. That’s a testament to Tims restaurant owners, team members, volunteers, and guests who have committed to making a difference in their communities year after year.”

Over $176,000 was raised in support of the Food Bank of York Region during the 2026 Smile Cookie Campaign by participating stores in Vaughan, Woodbridge, Thornhill, Maple, Concord and Richmond Hill. FBYR provides food to a network of about 70 local food banks and food pantries, schools and shelters, serving over 34,000 people in York Region.

“We are so grateful for the outstanding support and generosity of the Tim Hortons restaurant owners and staff and the community,” said Alex Bilotta, FBYR’s founder and CEO. “Thanks to the Smile Cookie campaign, we can put more food on more tables of people struggling with food insecurity across the region.”

The FBYR supports food programs in York Region, serving over 34,000 individuals in 11,000+ households. For more information, visit www.fbyr.ca.
