Investigators with the York Regional Police (YRP) Hold-Up Unit are seeking witnesses following a robbery at a commercial business in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.
On May 11 at 3:25 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a jewellery store, located in the area of Main Street and Palmwood Gate, for a report of a robbery.
YRP say that officers learned that five male suspects armed with firearms entered the store and pointed the guns at the employees and patrons while ordering them to the ground. The suspects allegedly smashed several jewellery showcase boxes and obtained a large quantity of jewellery before fleeing the scene in a dark-coloured vehicle.
Fortunately, nobody was physically injured.
The five suspects are described as male, in their mid-20s.
Investigators from the Hold-Up Unit remind business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment. Quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings.
