Meet the first baby born in 2026 at Markham Stouffville Hospital
Oak Valley Health welcomed its first baby of 2026, a baby boy born at 1:42 a.m. on January 1 at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
A healthy baby boy, born weighing 6 pounds, 11 ounces and measuring 54 centimetres — bringing immense joy to proud parents Fatima and Fahad.
The hospital welcomes more than 3,000 babies each year, making this first arrival of 2026 a particularly special milestone.
This moment was made possible by the compassionate care and expertise of our Labour and Delivery team, who ensured a safe and beautiful start to life for the baby.
“Welcoming the first baby of the year is always an exciting moment for our team,” says Cheryl Osborne, Senior Director, Childbirth and Children’s Services, Alongside Midwifery Unit. “We are grateful to play a role in such a special occasion and wish the family a wonderful year ahead.”
Best wishes to them — and to all families welcoming babies in 2026 — on a healthy and joyful year ahead.
