Markham Stouffville Hospital welcomes first baby of 2024
Markham Stouffville Hospital recently announced the arrival of its first baby in 2025.
Born at 3:33 a.m. on January 1, Lennox entered the world weighing 3030 grams and measuring 20 inches. Her proud parents are overjoyed to welcome their newest family member.
Lennox holds a special milestone as the first New Year’s baby born in the hospital’s state-of-the-art Alongside Midwifery Unit (AMU). This unique unit provides families with a home-like birthing experience supported by midwifery expertise.
“We’re so grateful to the fantastic team at Markham Stouffville Hospital for their care and support,” said Lennox’s parents. “Having our second baby in the AMU has been a wonderful experience – the staff are so caring and wonderful. Starting the year with our new baby is going to be something special that we will always remember.”
Silva Nercessian, AMU patient care director for childbirth and children’s services, shared her excitement: “Welcoming the first baby of the year is always an exciting moment for our team. We are honoured to play a role in such a joyful occasion and wish the family a wonderful year ahead.”
