Latcham Art Centre launches winter exhibition

The annual exhibition will be showcased until Jan. 13, 2024. An opening reception will take place on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. This event is open to everyone and offers a chance to meet the artists while enjoying light refreshments. Admission is free.

IMAGES 2023-2024 brings together a collection of artworks by talented grade twelve students. This year marks the 28th iteration of the show, where ‘Meraki’ – a Greek term defined as engaging in activities with immense creativity or passion by infusing your heart and soul into your work – serves as both the theme and title. This concept resonates deeply with the dedication and passion of these young artists.

Reflecting on the personal significance of their exhibition theme, the artists state, “This is a group exhibit featuring artworks that are representative of who we are, and where we are going, as we embark on future creative endeavours. It is our hope that our creations speak to the people around us. In this exhibit, you will find many visions of how we perceive the world. The art you will see showcases things that we obsess over, our passions and interests: ranging from fantastical, vivid creatures to mechanical marvels, and anything that holds a special meaning.”

The artists are grateful to Onalee Webb, their dedicated art teacher, for her continued support and guidance.
