Catholic school board appoints new director
The York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) has appointed John De Faveri as its new director of education and foundation chair.
“I want to thank Mr. De Faveri for being interim director for the past 11 months and I know the Board of Trustees looks forward to continuing to work together with him to implement the Multi-Year Strategic Plan and the Multi-Year Financial Recovery Plan,” Board of Trustees Chair Elizabeth Crowe says.
“Mr. De Faveri has provided great wisdom and leadership as interim director of education and we are confident that he is the right person to ensure the YCDSB remains the top-performing school board in Ontario.”
De Faveri launched his career at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Elementary School in Woodbridge and went on to serve as principal and superintendent of education in the YCDSB, which serves about 50,000 students. He also served as a superintendent of education in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board and was director of education at the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board for four years. He was also an executive director and chair of the Georgina Trades Training Inc.
De Faveri replaces Domenic Scuglia, who retired in February following a 41-year career and after having served as director of education since July 2021.
