Homicide investigation after suspicious teen death

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are seeking witnesses following a suspicious death in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

On July 14, 2021, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers received information regarding a body located in the area of Woodbine Avenue at Vivian Road.

When officers arrived, they found a body in a ditch, which was pronounced deceased at the scene. The coroner attended the scene and deemed the death suspicious. The Homicide Unit is investigating.

The victim has been identified as a 16-year-old male youth and the cause of death is under investigation.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, who have not yet spoken to police, to please come forward. They are also appealing to anyone in the area with residential video surveillance that may have captured anything suspicious to come forward.
