As Ontario enters Step Three of its reopening plan, Whitchurch-Stouffville residents can get back into the swing of things at many of the town’s fitness facilities and cultural centres.
On the fitness front, Leisure Centre facilities will be ready to use beginning Friday, July 23. Indoor group fitness classes such as Cyclefit and Aquafit, public swimming and the fitness training room will be available.
Pre-registration and COVID-19 screening are required for all programs. To register for a membership and see program schedules, visit townofws.ca/active.
Stouffville Clippers Sports Complex will reopen on Monday, July 26 for ice bookings and dry pads. Stouffville Arena and SoccerCity will both remain closed until September.
The town’s cultural and community centres, including the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre, 19 on the Park and Latcham Hall, will also reopen on July 23. Ballantrae Community Centre, Lemonville Community Centre and 6240 Main Street/55+ Club will remain shuttered until September. Visit townofws.ca/facilities to learn more.
Step Three focuses on the resumption of additional indoor services with larger numbers of people and restrictions in place. Indoor sports and recreational fitness facilities are subject to a maximum 50 per cent capacity of the indoor space, for instance. Face coverings in indoor public settings and physical distancing requirements remain in place and will also be required in some outdoor public settings.
“Once again, the Province has allowed us to enter into the next reopening step earlier than planned due to achieving significant vaccine rates,” says Mayor Iain Lovatt. “Thank you to our residents, businesses and the community for their efforts in slowing the spread of COVID-19 by doing their part in getting vaccinated and following all health regulations as outlined by the Province.”
