Holiday Heroes Toy Drive supports families in need

York Regional Police Holiday Heroes Campaign has worked with the community to create a toy drive for families in need during the holiday season.

The campaign has a framework of helpers from the community to partners to collect donations to foster support to neighbours.

The community can donate new toys, gift cards, new clothing for children, hygiene essentials and non-perishable food, which will then be distributed through the Salvation ArmyVictim Services of York Region and the York Region Centre for Community Safety.

Since the program launched 28 years ago, Holiday Heroes has helped approximately 100,000 individuals and families in need.

Rob O’Quinn, president of the York Regional Police Association, highlights the importance of the campaign: “All too often, our members see first-hand the struggles families and individuals in York Region face. This time of year, we try and do our part to give back to the communities we serve. By supporting Holiday Heroes, we are hoping to ensure well-deserved families can celebrate the holidays the way they should with much-needed gifts.”

The campaign runs from November 12 to December 13. Donations can be dropped off in Markham at #5 District (8700 McCowan Rd. and Carlton Rd.)
