Free public transit on New Year’s Eve

Get to and from your New Year’s Eve celebrations safely with York Region Transit (YRT).

It’s offering free transit to travellers on New Year’s Eve after 7 p.m. and extending late-night service. Free transit includes all YRT fares and On-Request and Mobility On-Request Paratransit services.

YRT has also announced several service changes. Effective Sunday, Dec. 21, High School Special routes will be suspended during the two-week holiday school closure. YRT is also adding service on Routes 320 and 360 to Vaughan Mills and Canada’s Wonderland.

Effective Sunday, Jan. 4, High School Special routes will be reinstated. There will also be changes to some routes, including Route 415 – Stouffville District School Special. Trips will be added to meet growing demand. Service improvements will be made on several routes. Learn which routes and how to plan ahead at yrt.ca/ServiceChanges.

YRT contact centres will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 1. Hours per day and for Mobility On-Request Paratransit may vary and can be found at holiday service schedules and Contact Centre hours. YRT On-Request provides riders with a flexible, ride-sharing option to meet travel needs across the region. Book your trip using the YRT On-Request app, available in the App Store and Google Play.
