Creative summer camps return to Latcham Art Centre
Young artists will have the chance to explore painting, sculpture, animation and more this summer as Latcham Art Centre launches another season of creative camps for children and youth.
Running for seven weeks throughout July and August, Latcham’s summer camps are open to children ages five to 11. It is a wonderful opportunity for participants to be creative and make new friends. Taught by an artist-educator, each week is different, featuring various art projects including painting, drawing, sculpture, and more. There will be an art show of the students’ work in the studio for family and friends to enjoy at the end of each week.
Returning this year is a five-day Summer Stop-Motion Animation Camp that offers a wonderful hands-on opportunity for participants between the ages of 12 to 17 to get creative with storytelling and character development. Join the fun from July 27 to 31 at Latcham’s beautiful studio, where students will get to build their own short video animation from scratch and make new friends. Taught by professional artist-educator David Nelson, students will experiment with different materials and techniques while expanding their knowledge and understanding of the art-making process. Working with iPads and art materials in Latcham’s studio, they will learn to create fun and unique animations. At the end of the week, there will also be an art show of their work for family and friends to enjoy.
Be sure to register now, as there are limited spots available. Drop-off is from 8:30 to 9 a.m., and pick-up is from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Students are required to bring two nut-free snacks and lunch, a water bottle, sunscreen, and a change of extra clothes just in case.
Join Latcham Art Centre for a summer filled with creativity, exploration, and fun.
