Taste of Asia celebrates food and culture

Asian culture, cuisine and entertainment will take centre stage in Markham as Taste of Asia (TOA) returns from June 26 to 28 at Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue East.

Festival-goers can explore more than 100 vendors featuring authentic street food from across East, Southeast and South Asia. Visitors can expect a wide range of traditional favourites, modern fusion dishes, specialty drinks, desserts and packaged goods. The festival will also showcase artisans selling homemade artwork, jewellery, traditional clothing and other unique items.

In addition to the food and shopping experiences, attendees can enjoy a diverse lineup of entertainment, including multicultural troupes, traditional lion dances, martial arts, live band and more.

Taste of Asia is hosted by the Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham in collaboration with the City of Markham, the Associations of Progressive Muslims of Canada, and with support from community and government partners.

“From the beginning, this event is created to support Asia culture and local businesses after the SARS pandemic. Our chairman wants to unite the community regardless of our backgrounds and we continue to push for that agenda,” says Michelle He, one of the event organizers.
