Stouffville Library hosts November talk on Intellectual Freedom

The Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library is inviting the community to take part in an inspiring evening of ideas and conversation this fall.

On November 27, the library will welcome Professor James L. Turk, one of Canada’s leading voices on free expression, for a thought-provoking virtual presentation on Intellectual Freedom.

Turk, director of the Centre for Free Expression at Toronto Metropolitan University, is widely recognized for his work championing the right to read, write, and share ideas without censorship. His talk will explore why intellectual freedom is a cornerstone of democracy, how it affects our daily lives, and the challenges it faces in a rapidly changing digital world.

The event is free and open to anyone aged 16 and older, offering an engaging opportunity for students, educators, and community members alike to reflect on the importance of protecting open dialogue in society. Registration is required to attend.
