Town’s culture team provides winter fun

The start of the New Year brought in some change for the Leisure & Community Services Department at the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

In accordance with provincial guidelines announced in early January, the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville closed it’s recreational, cultural, and administrative buildings to the public as of January 5.

Staff immediately pulled together to be able to continue to serve residents during the closure period.

If you’re looking for something to do with your family, the town has you covered.

There are now substantial lists with virtual and outdoor programming available for anyone who is looking for something to do. Some programs even have prizes to be won.

Visit https://www.townofws.ca/en/explore/boredom-busters.aspx for a full list of Programs and Activities from Recreation, The Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre, 19 on the Park, and Special Events.

Do you play an instrument? Do you sing, dance or act? Are you artistic? Back by popular demand, 19 on the Park is relaunching its online Stouffville’s Got Talent and you’re invited to participate. Just submit a video or image of your talent to Facebook.ca/19onthepark by February 4 and the team will include your submission on their Facebook page and you will also have a chance to win a prize. The Talent Show is open to all ages. The categories are 8 and under, 8-18 and 19+.

In addition to the available programs, a list of online resources has been complied to assist residents. These resources will suggest fun things to do from the comfort of your own home including live streaming theatre, museum exhibits, events and more. The Town of Stouffville’s Recreation team has also provided many mental health resources, that some residents may find helpful at this time. The resource links are intended to assist residents in finding nationwide resources. The resources can be found by going to the following site: https://www.townofws.ca/en/explore/special-events.aspx.

The Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre, 19 on the Park and the Special Events team all have their own Facebook pages and will continue to post information about services being offered.  You can follow them by entering their Facebook handles into your Facebook search bar: @WSMuseum, @TWSEvents, and/or @19onthePark.
