In recognition of June being Pride Month, the Town of Stouffville has raised the Progress Pride flag just outside the town office.
The Progress Pride flag is based on the iconic Pride rainbow flag and celebrates the diversity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and calls for a more inclusive society.
“Flying the Progress Pride Flag for the first time is a historic moment for our town,” Mayor Iain Lovatt said. “It will serve as a symbol of inclusion for the incredible breadth of identity within our community.”
The ceremony featured the rising of the Progress Pride flag by WS Pride Committee member Lisa Ronco, members of council and Mayor Lovatt.
The flag will be flown at town hall, 111 Sandiford Drive Stouffville, until June 30.
