A seasoned executive with many years of senior management experience in the municipal recreation sector under his belt will take on a leadership role here.
Sunny Bains, the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville’s new Director of Leisure & Community Services, spent the past six years as Director of Recreation Services at the City of Vaughan.
Bains also worked as Manager of Business Services, Manager of Community Centres and also served as Acting Deputy City Manager of Community Services with Vaughan. He previously worked for the City of Mississauga.
“In his 18 years in the field, he has covered it all, including strategic planning, budget development and community involvement – everything we are looking for in Stouffville,” Mayor Iain Lovatt said. “Sunny also lives in Stouffville. That is very beneficial to everyone, including our residents.”
The Leisure & Community Services Department oversees the Town’s recreation programs and services, parks, special events, the Museum and Community Centre and the ‘Nineteen on the Park’ theatre.
“I am thrilled to be joining the team at Whitchurch-Stouffville,” Bains said. “The Town I proudly call home.”
Bains assumes his new role on January 10.
