Stouffville wins Canadian HR Reporter Employer of Choice Award

The Town of Stouffville has once again been recognized as an Employer of Choice by Canadian HR Reporter, acknowledging the organization’s efforts in employee engagement, leadership development, recognition, and workplace programs.

The designation recognizes employers that commit to supporting employee development, fostering engagement, and creating positive workplace experiences.

“What makes the Town of Stouffville stand out is our commitment to our employees,” says Claudette Banks, Director of Human Resources. “We have built a culture where employees are empowered to contribute their ideas, take on new projects and grow in their careers while making meaningful impacts in the community. Our employees are collaborative, supportive and focused on delivering exceptional service to our residents. This combination makes the Town an exceptional place to work.”

A key initiative is Stouffville LEADS (Leadership Effectiveness and Development System), the Town’s leadership development framework. The program provides structured learning pathways, leadership assessments, coaching, workshops, and academic learning opportunities to help employees build skills in service excellence, collaboration, strategic thinking, and people leadership.

Employee feedback also helps inform workplace priorities and programs, while initiatives such as the Stouffville Game Changer Awards recognize outstanding contributions through peer and manager nominations. Staff-led events and activities further support opportunities for connection and team building across the organization.

“This recognition reflects the investments we’re making in our people and their future,” says Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt. “Through initiatives like Stouffville LEADS and our ongoing focus on employee development, we’re building a workplace where employees have the support and opportunities they need to grow, lead, and succeed.”
