Stouffville to help deliver letters to Santa
If your little ones are disappointed their letters won’t make it to Santa in time for Christmas because of the Canada Post strike, you’ll be excited to learn the Town of Stouffville is committed to ensuring every letter reaches the North Pole on time.
Mayor Iain Lovatt, Town councillors and volunteers will be playing Santa’s helpers at the Stouffville Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, Dec. 7 and collecting letters from children along the parade route.
The parade kicks off at 6 p.m. on Main Street heading east from Ninth Line to Park Drive. This year’s event will feature more than 45 floats, live entertainment and a special appearance by Santa himself.
Beyond the parade, Santa mailboxes will be installed at Town Hall, the Leisure Centre, Clippers Complex and Stouffville Arena from Wednesday, Dec. 11 through Friday, Dec. 20. While Santa might be too busy preparing gifts to reply to everyone, every letter will reach the North Pole safely, the Town assures.
“We know how important it is for children to send their letters to Santa and we didn’t want the Canada Post strike to dim that holiday magic,” Mayor Lovatt says. “We’re ready to be Santa’s elves, delivering smiles and Christmas wishes from Stouffville straight to the North Pole!”
