Stouffville council has named Fire Chief Bill Snowball as the town’s interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
Chief Snowball, who was recently recognized for 45 years of dedicated service by council, steps in for Rob Adams who held the position for the last four years. Adams was dismissed from the position on Feb. 15.
Snowball began his career in Markham in 1974 and worked himself up the ranks— first as a volunteer firefighter, then full-time firefighter, then Captain, Platoon Chief, and then Fire Chief in 2009. After retiring from Markham in 2016, he came back to service in Stouffville as Chief in 2019.
“On behalf of council, I am pleased to announce the Chief will be stepping into the position of interim CAO,” said Mayor Iain Lovatt. “He has demonstrated many years of leadership in both Stouffville and Markham and we are looking forward to him filling the role until we find a permanent replacement.”
