Stouffville and York Region break ground on new fire and emergency services station in Ballantrae
The Town of Stouffville and The Regional Municipality of York have officially broken ground on a new joint Fire and Paramedic Response Station at 4902 Aurora Road in Ballantrae.
The new Fire Station 5-2 and Paramedic Services Station 20 represents a collaborative investment between the town and York Region to enhance emergency response services in Stouffville’s growing northern area. The 18,500-square-foot facility will include three fire bays and two ambulance bays, supporting 24/7 operations for both Fire and Paramedic Services.
“For families living in the north end of town, faster response times mean greater peace of mind,” said Mayor Iain Lovatt. “It’s also a reflection of the incredible partnership between our local teams and York Region, working together to meet growth with preparedness, and to keep our community safe, strong, and well-served for decades ahead.”
When complete, the new station’s modern design and optimized layout will enable quicker dispatch, improve emergency response times, provide space for state-of-the-art equipment, and serve as a contemporary hub for training, operations, and community readiness. The facility will also be designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, reflecting the town’s commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and long-term environmental stewardship.
“The groundbreaking of the Ballantrae Fire and Paramedic Response Station is a significant milestone for The Regional Municipality of York and the Town of Stouffville,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Eric Jolliffe. “This new facility will enhance emergency response times, support our highly trained paramedics and firefighters and ensure residents receive the care they need when it matters most.
The total project cost is approximately $14.5 million, with funding shared between the town and the region. Substantial completion is expected in fall 2027.
