Steer Friends Automotive Festival drives support for accessible programs
Steer Friends (SF) will host its 6th Annual Automotive Festival at the Stouffville Athletic Center on June 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., raising funds to support the expansion of a new facility and enhanced programming for adults with physical and developmental disabilities and complex care needs.
One of SF’s key initiatives is raising donations to help create a larger, more accessible space. Planned features include wider doorways and hallways, entry and exit ramps, automatic doors, fully equipped change rooms with ceiling lifts, sanitation stations, accessible seating and transfer lifts, and additional medical supplies. The organization also offers impactful programming such as music therapy, sensory-based learning, pet therapy, art expression, culinary activities, community outings, and challenger baseball.
“The Steering for Steer Friends Automotive Festival has become a meaningful community event that brings people together for a shared purpose,” says Jacqueline Hall-Fusco, SF executive director. “It connects car enthusiasts, local businesses, families, and supporters in a way that is both engaging and impactful.”
The free, family-friendly event will feature more than 100 historical and unique vehicles displayed both indoors and outdoors. Guests can also enjoy children’s activities, industry vendors, food trucks, live music, a silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle.
“Events like this are essential to our growth,” The funds raised allow us to directly expand our services and programs, supporting more individuals with physical and developmental disabilities who are currently on our waiting list. As demand continues to grow, opportunities like this help us increase capacity, enhance the level of care we provide, and introduce programming that better meets the complex needs of our members. The visibility from the event also helps us build strong relationships within the community, which supports our long-term growth,” says Hall-Fusco.
