New library card celebrates Indigenous culture
Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library invites you to exchange your current library card or register for a new one and receive a card that showcases the work of a local Indigenous artist.
Available for a limited time, the card features Family Gathering at Two Rivers by Dianne Brown-Green.
“At the Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library, we are proud to support and celebrate the artistic heritage of our community,” says Margaret Wallace, CEO of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library. “This limited-edition card not only highlights the work of a talented local Indigenous artist but also reflects our commitment to fostering cultural understanding and honouring the stories that connect us all.”
The new card supports the library’s dedication to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, promoting awareness of Indigenous culture, language and knowledge. By featuring Indigenous art, the library aims to foster cultural connections and provide a platform for local artists.
The initiative reflects the library’s commitment to engaging the community, celebrating diverse heritage and fostering cultural connections. The card is available while supplies last and can be picked up at the library at 2 Park Dr. The library encourages early visits to ensure availability.
