Multiple pedestrians struck by cars in York Region

Investigators with the York Regional Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was seriously injured in the City of Vaughan.

On August 19, at approximately 1:50 a.m., police responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Islington Road and Napa Valley Avenue.

A 19-year-old woman was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing. Investigators believe several witnesses were in the area at the time of the incident and are asking them to come forward.

Only five days later a pedestrian was fatally struck in the Town of Newmarket.

On August 24, at approximately 7:20 p.m., police responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Davis Drive and Parkside Drive.

A 64-year-old woman was crossing the street when she was struck by a vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was not injured. The investigation is ongoing.
