Markham Village Music Festival showcases top Canadian talent
The Markham Village Music Festival returns June 19 and 20 to mark an impressive 49th year, promising a vibrant weekend that blends music, culture, and community spirit on an unforgettable scale.
Recognized as York Region’s largest outdoor music celebration, the popular festival welcomed more than 30,000 attendees in 2025 and continues to draw visitors from across the GTA and beyond.
This year’s edition raises the bar once again, offering two days packed with live entertainment, immersive activities, and diverse cultural experiences along historic Main Street Markham.
Festivalgoers can explore five dynamic stages showcasing an eclectic lineup of genres—from rock and jazz to big band, blues, and country—ensuring there’s something for every musical taste. In recognition of Indigenous Heritage Month, powerful performances will spotlight Indigenous culture and artistry, including a special opening presentation by the Chippewa Travellers. Headlining the 2026 festival are Canadian icons Crash Test Dummies, along with Ron Sexsmith, Preston Pablo, Devin Cuddy Band and many more.
The festival’s popular Dance Stage on Robinson Street will once again celebrate the community’s rich diversity, featuring vibrant multicultural performances throughout the weekend. Visitors can also browse more than 100 craft and food vendors, offering everything from global cuisine to one-of-a-kind artisan goods.
Festivities begin Friday evening with an engaging Indigenous performance, followed by a lively Family Street Dance Party under the stars. At the north end, the ever-popular Classic Car Show invites attendees to admire beautifully restored vintage vehicles and connect with passionate collectors.
Saturday keeps the energy high with a full lineup of family-friendly programming. The Kidz Zone opens at 11 a.m., offering hands-on crafts, games, and interactive fun, while the Bike Zone delivers excitement with an obstacle course, a Ride for Charity, and demonstrations from local cycling vendors, including Scooty.
As anticipation builds for its milestone 50th anniversary in 2027, the Markham Village Music Festival continues to grow in both scale and impact—bringing together music lovers, families, and visitors for one of the region’s most anticipated summer traditions.
