Latcham Art Centre unveils creative spring programs

Spring is just around the corner, and Latcham Art Centre is welcoming the season with a vibrant lineup of programs for children, families and adults.

Residents can drop in for the free Latcham Saturdays (All Ages) art activity on March 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where participants will create a unique mixed-media melting snowman portrait using paper plates, oil pastels and more.

Young artists can dive into creativity during the March Break Art Camp (Ages 5–11) from March 16 to 20. Each day features new projects exploring different materials, styles and techniques, all led by professional artist-educators. Drop-off runs from 8:30 to 9 a.m., with pick-up between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Space is limited.

Creative Foundations (Ages 5–8) runs Saturdays from April 11 to June 20 (excluding May 16), from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This engaging 10-session program introduces children to a world of colour, shape and artistic expression through hands-on activities designed to build confidence, creative thinking skills and knowledge of different art forms.

Older children can further develop their skills in Creative Beginners (Ages 9–11), held Thursdays from March 26 to May 21 (excluding April 30) from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. Designed to challenge and inspire, the program encourages participants to explore a variety of media and techniques while taking creative risks in a supportive environment.

Adults can get involved, too. Brush Calligraphy for Beginners (Ages 18+) takes place March 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Led by professional lettering artist Erica Pinto, the two-hour workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of modern brush pen calligraphy, from basic strokes to forming lowercase letters and words. All materials are provided, and no experience is necessary.

For a more social evening, Wine & Paint Night (Ages 19+) will be held March 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants will enjoy an instructor-guided painting session, with all supplies included.
