Halloween celebration at Civic Square
Complimentary face painting, a spider maze and a pirate ship adventure are among the activities trick-or-treaters can enjoy at Civic Square this weekend.
The Town of Stouffville is hosting the “frightfully fun” Halloween celebration on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. Activities will also be hosted inside 19 on the Park.
Enjoy self-serve photo opportunities featuring hay bales and pumpkins, watch for Roaming Captain Jack Sparrow and climb aboard a life-sized pirate ship for some swashbuckling fun. There will be a local food truck, Halloween music, and booths by Latcham Art Centre and Stouffville Public Library. There will also be trick-or-treating at participating businesses along Main Street while supplies last.
There will be no road closures for this event, so the Town is encouraging attendees to use sidewalks and crosswalks and to be mindful of traffic, especially if trick-or-treating along Main Street. Parents and guardians are encouraged to supervise children closely and to stick to designated pedestrian areas. Visit townofws.ca/events to learn more.
The Town encourages those trick-or-treating on Halloween night to wear bright, reflective costumes or to add reflective tape to ensure visibility. Avoid masks that obstruct vision, opting for face paint instead. Stick to well-lit areas and always cross streets at intersections. Carry a flashlight or glow sticks for added visibility, especially in the evening. Check candy before consuming, particularly homemade treats or items without packaging. Ensure young children are supervised by an adult and older kids follow a planned route.
