Firearm and narcotics seized in Markham

York Regional Police has seized a loaded firearm, a quantity of controlled substances and charged three suspects with multiple offences following a traffic stop in the City of Markham.

On Saturday, July 11, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers were conducting proactive patrol in the area of 14th Avenue and Beckenridge Drive. Officers initiated a traffic stop and, while speaking with the driver, determined that cannabis was being transported in contravention of the Cannabis Control Act.

As a result, officers searched the vehicle and its three occupants.

Officers located a loaded firearm, a quantity of illicit cannabis, a quantity of controlled substances believed to be oxycodone and cocaine and a quantity of cash.

All three suspects were taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, on Sunday, July 12, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Toronto. Investigators seized a quantity of controlled substances believed to be psilocybin and ketamine, as well as illicit cannabis.
