Kindred Spirits Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Kristian Alexander, presents Passion and Drama, the orchestra’s fourth live-streamed broadcast of the season.
The performance will feature two soloists: violinist Clare Pellerin, and fifteen-year-old pianist J J Jun Li Bui.
As part of the 90-minute event, KSO Associate Conductor Michael Berec will facilitate an on-stage discussion with Pellerin and Jun Li Bui answering questions about the historical and social context of the two pieces and other key topics.
Pellerin, a Toronto violinist and composer of Métis heritage who has played with ensembles in the United States, Singapore, and London, will make her debut with the Kindred Spirits Orchestra. She will be performing Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen.
Toronto-native J J Jun Li Bui is an international award-winning piano prodigy who, at just fifteen years old, has already won prizes in Canadian, Danish, and American competitions. He will be performing Serge Prokovieve’s, Piano Concerto No. 2.
“This concert is special because it features two true virtuosos, each of their own instruments and stages in their career”, Maestro Kristian Alexander said. “I am excited to present Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen with Clare Pellerin for the first time as a soloist with the KSO and am thrilled to welcome back J J for another emotional performance of Prokofiev’s Second Piano concerto.”
This live-streamed concert ensures that patrons are able to experience a night of exceptional music from the safety of their home.
