Celebrate family literacy and winter fun at Stouffville Library

Start the new year with warmth, creativity, and community at the Stouffville Library.

The library will feature Family Literacy Day Storytime, happening on January 24 from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. in the Children’s Area. This special all-ages, drop-in program invites families to celebrate reading through picture books, songs, rhymes, and puppetry —a joyful way to spend time together while inspiring a love of stories.

January also marks the return of Hot Chocolate Storytime for ages 6–12. Held every Monday on January 5, 12, 19, and 26 from 4 to 4:45 p.m. in Children’s Room B, kids can warm up with a cup of hot chocolate while enjoying a new set of winter-themed stories each week.

Curious about local history? Learn all about Whitchurch and Stouffville. The Historian in Residence will guide you in using library resources on Tuesdays.

Want to dive into exciting reads and engage in thought-provoking discussions with fellow booklovers? Join one of the Book Club sessions that offers a new book and fresh perspectives. Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell is set for January 13, followed a week later with Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutano.

For families eager to enjoy the outdoors, the Library’s Lendery offers free snowshoe borrowing throughout the winter. Whether venturing onto the York Region Trails or simply exploring nearby spaces, snowshoes make winter walks easy and enjoyable. Borrow up to four pairs in person, or reserve a pair in advance for specific dates.
