Hot summer days, cool library adventures await in August

August may signal the final stretch of summer, but there will be plenty to discover at Stouffville Library. Throughout the month, the library is partnering with local organizations to bring families engaging programs, community experiences, and opportunities to celebrate the season together.

The month begins with Books with Badges on Aug. 4, where young children and their caregivers can enjoy a special storytime alongside members of York Regional Police. For children ages 2 to 6, the free drop-in program features stories, songs, action rhymes, and early literacy activities while giving families the chance to meet local officers in a fun and welcoming environment.

On Aug. 9, the library showcases the 53rd Annual Antique & Classic Car Show at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre. One of the town’s longest-running family traditions, the award-winning event attracts more than 400 antique and classic vehicles each year and welcomes thousands of visitors. Along with stunning vintage automobiles, guests can enjoy live music, food vendors, children’s activities, museum exhibits, historic buildings, and the beautiful grounds of Vandorf Community Park.

The excitement continues, as members of the Stouffville Fire Department will visit the library on Aug. 22 for a special Fire Department Storytime. Families of all ages are invited to enjoy stories and meet local firefighters while learning more about the important role they play in keeping our community safe.

The library will wrap up the summer on Aug. 29, with its End of Summer Party, celebrating another successful TD Summer Reading Club. Families are invited to join the festivities as readers come together to celebrate a summer filled with books, learning, and discovery.

All library programs are free to attend. For a complete list of upcoming events and programs, visit wsplibrary.ca or follow Stouffville Library on social media.
