Aram Tamil Circle opens a new chapter of giving at Markham Stouffville Hospital

Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation has launched the Aram Tamil Circle (ATC), a new philanthropy initiative that brings together Tamil leaders, business owners, professionals, and community organizations in support of Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH).

Rooted in the Tamil principle of Aram — meaning virtue, righteousness, and selfless giving — the ATC is guided by a dedicated steering committee and has already raised $335,000 towards its $1 million goal in support of the $150 Million Campaign for MSH.

“I want to thank everyone… for your commitment to this amazing goal, $1 million towards our campaign; it really will put tools in the right folks’ hands,”  said Mark Fam, CEO of MSH. “They’ll bring new clinical services into our hospital and serve our communities. And that is the most important gift and benefit you can give.”

This early generosity reflects a shared commitment to building a healthier future for generations to come. The growing Tamil community is an integral part of Markham and Stouffville and one of the largest cultural communities served at MSH. Many physicians, nurses, and health care professionals of Tamil heritage also play an important role in delivering exceptional patient care.

Government funding alone can’t support all of the hospital’s priorities and evolving needs. As demand for hospital services continues to rise, philanthropic support is essential to helping MSH meet the needs of the region. The $150 Million Campaign for MSH will help our hospital expand its unique campus, fund leading-edge technology and equipment, and enhance patient care with services that respond to real community needs.

“We are incredibly grateful to the steering committee and our first donors for championing the Aram Tamil Circle,” says Suzette Strong, CEO of MSH Foundation. “The impact of their giving will reach far beyond this launch, benefiting patients and families across the communities our hospital serves.”
