EI Canada Gala supports mission training centre in Uganda
Emmanuel International (EI) Canada will host its annual gala dinner on October 25 at Springvale Church to support the Shalom for Every Nation Development Centre (SEND) project in Uganda, which aims to build a discipleship and mission training centre.
EI Canada is an international organization that helps poor communities worldwide through the agency of churches within those communities. The centre will provide pastoral training, discipleship programs and cross-cultural mission training. There will be a planning and site visit to determine where this mission will be located in Uganda, with confirmation shared at the gala.
The evening commences with refreshments, a silent and live auction that includes household, decorative items, hockey tickets and more. This will be followed by dinner that has Ugandan flair as well as some traditional Canadian items.
Guests will hear from Canadians working on the project — husband-and-wife team Mike Botting (country director) and Marianne Botting (mission mobilizer), as well as Walter Okidi. Together, they will highlight how the project is transforming lives in Northern Uganda.
We look forward to being a part of the gala this year and sharing of the work in Uganda, Marianne Botting says. We are so honoured to work alongside churches in Northern Uganda. It feels like a historic time to be here in East Africa. If you study church history, you will see the church in various places rising up in different eras to bring light into the darkness. We believe this is Africa’s time. There are many churches across different denominations that are strong and vibrant and have a heart for serving their communities and sharing the love of God both locally and globally.
Last year’s gala had 180 attendees and raised $60,000 for the Titukule Azimai (Empower Women) project.
