Gala supports cystic fibrosis care and research

Cystic Fibrosis Canada is bringing its signature fundraiser back this fall, with the 2025 Fusion Gala set for October 4 at the Hilton Markham Suites Conference Centre & Spa. This year’s theme, An Evening in London, promises a night of fine dining, entertainment, and community spirit—all in support of critical research and care for people living with cystic fibrosis (CF).

Founded in 1960, Cystic Fibrosis Canada has grown into a national leader advancing treatments, research, support, and information for those affected by this fatal genetic disease, which primarily attacks the lungs and digestive system. Over the past 22 years, Fusion Gala has raised an impressive $5.4 million for CF research and care.

Throughout the event, attendees can participate in the silent and live auction that includes trips, fine wine, art, jewellery, gift baskets, and more. The evening also features the Key to a Cure campaign, where attendees raise bid paddles to support clinical fellowships with contributions ranging from $500 to $5,000.

Speakers include Master of Ceremonies Hugo Staney, individuals living with CF, and gala co-chairs Nancy Griffin and Ron Anderson, who emphasize the power of personal stories.

“Every year, a person impacted by cystic fibrosis speaks during our Key to a Cure fundraiser at Fusion,” Anderson said. “Whether it be a person living with cystic fibrosis, or a parent of a child with CF, these stories of perseverance, strength and hope in the face of tremendous hardship are probably the key takeaway — or what stays with people long after the event.”
