Authentically Evolving (AE) is set to host its 4th Annual International Women’s Day Conference, an event dedicated to educating, motivating, entertaining, and also supporting the Women Centre of York Region (WCYR). Taking place on March 8 at Rouge River Community Centre from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the conference will centre around the theme “Accelerate Action for Women’s Equality.”

March 8th marks International Women’s Day, a global celebration of women’s empowerment and achievements throughout history.

AE founder is Life Coach and Professional Speaker Sylvia Calleri, who helps people in all areas of life offering one to one coaching, workshops and has hosted over 12 worldwide retreats for women that reach transformational growth.

She reflects on the significance of the event, saying, “The International Women’s Day Conference is a day for women to come together in the community to empower women of all ages and celebrate diversity while raising funds for a worthy cause.”

The conference will feature up to 15 vendors offering a variety of products and services, including jewellery, health and beauty items, crafts, clothing, candles, food, coaching, real estate, and mortgage services. Many of these vendors and local Markham businesses will also donate prizes for the event.

Attendees can enjoy an international buffet lunch, offering diverse options for the community to indulge in. The event will also feature a fashion show by Eleven Joseph Fashions, self-defense activities, and housing organization workshops. A series of inspiring speakers will leave an impactful message aimed at empowering women.

WCYR is a non-profit organization that supports women who face challenges or trauma and abuse. WCYR provides counselling, programs, resources, and support for women and their families.

Nivedita Balachandran, executive director of WCYR, emphasizes the life-changing impact of their services: “At WCYR, we meet people where they are. Our services and supports are life-changing and help women and their families build self-confidence and hope to live again. After their initial visit with us, one client said, ‘Yesterday was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. I am incredibly grateful to you. It’s been a long time since I’ve even had the courage to look at myself in the mirror. You brought hope back into me, and I know I’m not alone anymore.’”
