COVID-19 protocols par for the course

Whether you’re just starting out or you’re a more experienced golfer, you’ll be sure to enjoy 9 or 18 holes with some friends socially distanced at one of the many local courses.

Whether you are a beginner or have been golfing for years, you’ll enjoy an afternoon with friends hitting the greens at a variety of local courses that offer executive course and championship course options.

An afternoon of companionship with some friends, after months of isolation, is a fun and healthy option.

Here are a few courses in York Region where you can get your swing on.

The Markham Executive Golf Course is a great course for golfers that are just getting their start in the sport. It’s an 18-hole course with par-3 holes over more than 70 acres of land. The course can be played for just over $30 on a weekday, with a discount offered for juniors and seniors. The club also offers daylight and twilight specials starting at $24. On weekends, they have a special where foursomes can play for the price of three golfers.

Rolling Hills offers a Classic Course that is par-62 and suitable for golfers of all ages. The 18-hole course includes a mix of both par-3 and par-4 holes over 4,010 yards. Golfers can play Monday to Friday for less than $30, with lower rates after twilight.

The Markham Green Golf Club is a par-35, 9-hole course that surrounds the Rouge River. Weekday rates go for just under $40, with a lower rate offered for twilight tee times. The club also offers a reduced rate for replays, and juniors and seniors can play at a discounted price.

Remington Parkview offers two 18-hole golf courses that include par-3s, par-4s, and par-5s. The weekday rate starts at around $60, with lower rates offered at twilight and dusk. The club also offers early bird specials and junior and senior pricing.

Bushwood Golf Course provides nine holes for only $20 for walkers on its executive course and 18 holes on its championship course for walkers from $35-50 depending on the tee off time.

Bathurst Glen Golf Course is located in Richmond Hill and features an 18-hole, par-63 course. Weekday rates start at $25 and a 10 per cent discount is offered to junior and senior players. The club also has a 9-hole option that can be played Monday to Friday from 2 p.m. to twilight for just under $25.

Angus Glen, Royal Stouffville Golf Course, and Ballantrae Golf Club, just to name a few, are challenging York Region golf course options that any experienced golfer would enjoy.

The Angus Glen Golf Club has two 18-hole courses: the North Course and the South Course. Both courses are great options for the more experienced golfers, with the courses being used in the past for PGA tour events and the Pan Am Games. In the spring, green fees start at $115, which includes an 18-hole round on one of the courses, a power cart, and access to the club’s driving range.

The Royal Stouffville Golf Course has both an 18-hole course and a 9-hole course with par-3s, par-4s, and par-5s. Golf rates for the championship course are anywhere between $40-55 for walkers and the executive course price is $17.70. The club also offers lower junior and senior walking and riding rates all week long.

Ballantrae Golf Club offers an 18-hole golf course in Stouffville that is recommended for the more experienced golfers. The golf course was posted under the 2021 Canada’s Golfers’ Choice list as one of the best valued golf courses in the country. On weekdays, green fees start at a little over $65, with reduced pricing on twilight and sunset tee times.
