Upcoming winter programs at Latcham Art Centre

Mark your calendar — Latcham Art Centre’s exciting winter lineup is almost here, offering creative opportunities for children, youth, and adults.

From December 10 to January 3, Latcham hosts its annual exhibition showcasing artwork by graduating students from Stouffville District Secondary School. IMAGES 2025/2026: The Window Within features artworks in a variety of mediums that explore the relationship between our interior lives and the world around us. Join the opening reception on December 10, from 7 to 9 p.m., where five outstanding artists will receive awards sponsored by the Stouffville Lions Club. All are welcome to visit the exhibition and experience the unique perspectives of the next generation of artists.

Do you know a child who is interested in learning more about art? Make sure they don’t miss out on Latcham’s Winter Break Art Camp (Ages 5 – 11) on December 29, December 30 and January 2. They will express their creativity during these fun-filled days with a variety of artistic activities. Each day features new projects using different materials, styles, and techniques. Drop off is between 8:30 to 9 a.m. and pick up is between 4 to 4:30 p.m.

Interested in an immersive experience that fosters your child’s creative journey? Starting on January 31, they can join Creative Foundations (Ages 5 – 8) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or Beginners Brush & Beyond (Ages 9 – 11) from 1 to 3 p.m. Students will delve into a variety of media and techniques, empowering them to unleash their imagination and create awe-inspiring works of art. You won’t want to miss their special art show in the studio on March 28, featuring all the works they created throughout the season.

Latcham also offers a full slate of adult programming. Those looking for a fun, social evening can join Wine & Paint Night (Ages 19+) on December 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. All painting materials are included for this relaxed, instructor-guided session.

The popular Exploring Watercolour series (Ages 18+) returns starting January 20 and 22. Beginner sessions run Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., covering the essentials of papers, colour mixing, layering, and more. Intermediate sessions are available on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 6 to 8 p.m., encouraging material and technical experimentation while also expanding one’s knowledge of colour, composition and subject matter. All classes are taught by a professional artist-educator, and materials are provided.
