Summer art adventures await at Latcham Art Centre
Summer is here, and if your child loves to create, Latcham Art Centre has a camp they won’t want to miss.
Running from July to August, Latcham’s Summer Art Camp is designed for children ages 5 to 11. It is an excellent opportunity for participants to get creative and make new friends. Taught by an artist-educator, each week features a different art project, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and more. There will be an art show of the students’ work in the studio for family and friends to enjoy at the end of the camp session.
New this year, is a 4-day Stop-Motion Animation Camp for youth ages 12 to 17, taking place August 5 to 8. Led by professional artist-educator David Nelson, this hands-on camp will dive into storytelling and character development. Join the fun in Latcham’s beautiful studio, where participants will get to build their own short video animation from scratch. Students will get to experiment with different materials and techniques while expanding their knowledge and understanding of the art-making processes. Working with iPads and art materials, they will learn to create fun and unique animations. The week concludes with a showcase of their animated work.
Drop-off is from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and pick-up is from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Make sure to pack nut-free snacks and lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, and an extra set of clothes.
