Stouffville rallies to raise $100,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation

The community flocked to Memorial Park for the annual Terry Fox Run, exceeding its $100,000 goal and bringing the Stouffville cumulative total to $2.5 million since the first local run in 1982.

This year’s festivities shone a well-deserved light on residents who have battled cancer by proudly honouring them with red shirts to commemorate their fight.

One of the brave Stouffville locals wearing the red shirt, Ryan Cairney, shared his story of battling the same type of cancer Terry Fox fought during his Marathon of Hope.

“My cancer journey began in early 2025 when I started having left knee pain,” Cairney said. “After some MRIs, Dr. Weiner confirmed that I had a golf ball-sized osteosarcoma growing on the bone of my left tumor”.

Cairney’s battle wasn’t easy, but with the help of his family and friends and support from the community, he pulled through his battle with cancer and is making a healthy recovery and spending more time with his family and loved ones.
