Stouffville 55+ Club receives provincial designation

The Stouffville 55+ Club has been designated a Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) under the provincial government’s SALC Program.

Through that program, the Club will receive an ongoing annual operational grant of up to $50,000, which will further support its programs and services.

“This provincial recognition underscores the importance of our local seniors and the vital role the 55+ Club plays in their everyday lives,” Mayor Iain Lovatt says. “We’re grateful for this support and look forward to building on this momentum.”

The recognition highlights the Stouffville 55+ Club’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive space where older adults can lead active, healthy and socially-connected lives, the Town of Stouffville reports. The SALC Program supports that mission through a variety of services and activity-based programs, including fitness classes, educational workshops, health and wellness services, and community-building events – all designed to help seniors remain engaged, independent and close to home, it adds.

The Club, located at 6240 Main St., has more than 1,700 members and averages 450 weekly visits.

The Town extends its gratitude to the Province of Ontario for this “meaningful investment” in the health and well-being of local seniors. “With this new designation, the Stouffville 55+ Club is poised to expand its impact and continue building a stronger, more connected community for years to come,” it says.
