Sizzling summer family fun
August is shaping up to be a perfect month for Stouffville residents who want to enjoy the beautiful summer weather. There will be food, cars, movies and music for all to enjoy.
“We are very excited to see everyone come out and enjoy themselves,” said Cassandra Papas, the Town of Stouffville’s corporate communications supervisor.
Kicking things off in August, a three-day festival celebrating award-winning ribs is coming to Memorial Park. From August 9 to August 12, barbeque lovers are invited to come and enjoy this free festival that will feature ribs, local beer, food trucks and a marketplace. There will also be a kids’ zone and live entertainment all weekend. Local chefs are invited to showcase their skills by submitting their best BBQ Sauce recipe. A winner will be crowned as the “Best Community Sauce in Stouffville.”
On August 11, car enthusiasts can check out over 400 vintage vehicles at the Antique & Classic Car Show at the Whitchurch-Stouffvlle Museum & Community Centre. There will also be music, food, live performances, and activities for kids. Visitors can also explore the museum buildings, exhibits, and Vandorf Park.
The summer lineup of events continues with another fan favourite, Movies in the Park. On August 16, Memorial Park will turn into a starlit cinema for the last time this summer. Wonka will be the featured film.
To wrap things up for the summer, 19 On The Park will host Big Shiny ‘90s for their final Patio Series show on August 17. Gates open at 7:00 pm and music starts at 8 p.m.
