Pandemic causes hiring struggles for service industry

The pandemic has caused a lot of shift in the service sector, including at quick-service restaurants.

Local McDonld’s owners Marcia and Todd Finlayson are one of the many business owners struggling to find talent to join their team.

The duo has a job fair set for August where people searching for a permanent full-time opportunity can simply drop by for an interview.

The leadership team will be holding interviews during the job fair on August 18 and 19 from 2 to 7 p.m. Successful candidates will be able to start work this month.

“Our Stouffville McDonald’s Full Time Job Fair is a great opportunity,” Marcia says. “As the owners, Todd and I look forward to meeting with anyone in our community that is looking for full-time employment. I know working at McDonald’s is awesome. I have been working for McDonald’s for 45 years and counting.”

The job fair takes place at the Stouffville McDonald’s located at 28 Sandiford and Main Street.

McDonald’s management and staff have all the COVID-19 safety precautions in place. All staff and customers must wear masks and customers must adhere to social distancing rules.

“As our world returns to a new normal we are blessed with a growing business and are looking for great new Full Time Crew to join the Stouffville Team,” Todd adds.
