MSH unveils the Antonio & Lucia Scarpitti Waiting Room

Close family and friends gathered at Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) recently to celebrate the generosity of The Frank Scarpitti Charitable Foundation and Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti’s exceptional leadership.

In recognition of the $1 million contribution from The Frank Scarpitti Charitable Foundation, made during the hospital’s ambitious $50 million “We’re Growing. Together.” Expansion Campaign, MSH proudly unveiled the Antonio & Lucia Scarpitti Waiting Room in the Centre for Diagnostic Services.

Additionally, the walkway connecting the Cornell Community Centre to the hospital was named The Frank Scarpitti Link.

“We put a lot of thought into how we can show Mayor Scarpitti, and the community, just how much his leadership embodies the connection between the community and the hospital,” says Khalid Usman, Board Director of The Frank Scarpitti Charitable Foundation. “A link is something that connects two independent things, or ideas, and makes them stronger together. The partnership between Markham Stouffville Hospital and the Cornell Community Centre, physically connected by this walkway or link, makes our leading community hospital a truly unique, state-of-the-art health and wellness campus.”

The Expansion Campaign was launched to support MSH’s first major redevelopment project. Scarpitti was instrumental in garnering community support that achieved incredible fundraising success and built the hospital into what it is today. The expanded and completely refurbished MSH reopened in 2014. Physically connected to the Cornell Community Centre, it is a truly unique, state-of-the-art health and wellness campus.

“We are sincerely grateful to Mayor Scarpitti and The Frank Scarpitti Charitable Foundation for sharing our vision that enables exceptional patient care that our families – and our community – needs and deserves, right here close to home,” says Suzette Strong, CEO, MSH Foundation. “This is a celebration of the legacy of philanthropy that Mayor Scarpitti is helping to build here in our community, as well as the extraordinary future his leadership is enabling. We are so honoured and proud that Mayor Scarpitti is continuing his leadership, together with Mayor Iain Lovatt of the Town of Stouffville to co-chair our new $150 million Campaign for MSH.”

As the landscape of health care evolves alongside our growing and diverse community, MSH remains steadfast in its commitment to creating extraordinary patient experiences. Yet, achieving this vision requires more than just government funding; it necessitates the invaluable support of community donors. Through the MSH Foundation, these generous contributions play a pivotal role in advancing health care excellence and innovation. The Campaign for MSH invites the community to invest in this essential mission.
