Christmas Dinner Wish brings community together for the holiday season
The Christmas Dinner Wish is set to bring the Stouffville community together for a festive evening on December 21 at the 55+ Club, located at 6240 Main Street.
Adults and seniors can look forward to a traditional sit-down turkey dinner, a visit from Santa, gift bags, and the chance to share a meal with friendly neighbours—all surrounded by cheerful holiday decor designed to capture the spirit of Christmas.
“We are all working together to provide a meaningful and celebratory dinner for those that for whatever reason won’t have a family gathering on Christmas Day. Members of the community coming together to provide a special evening where we can all enjoy the meaningful season,” says organizer Susan Tucker.
The Christmas Dinner Wish is currently seeking volunteers from the community to help prepare and serve the meal.
“When you volunteer for however long, know that a single act of goodwill and compassion can change someone else’s day, week or even year. Everyone has something going on we know nothing about. A smile, an act of kindness can be so meaningful,” says volunteer Debbie Powell. “When communities come together for the good of each other, it is a powerful thing. There is no more precious gift than time and no better feeling in this world than making a difference. That is what makes volunteering for me so meaningful and fulfilling.”
Tucker hopes the event will remind residents of the importance of community care and belonging. “Volunteers and diners get a sense of togetherness, a cohesiveness that no matter what our circumstances, we all live here, and we all belong here, a message that I hope extends outward to other residents.”
