Big changes and plans for Stouffville Chamber
The Stouffville Chamber of Commerce has undergone a rebirth of sorts over the last couple of years, gaining members and hosting popular, sold-out events that have created buzz in the business community.
And now, with a new executive director at the helm and a brand-new board of directors, the chamber appears ready to hit even higher heights this year.
First on the agenda this year was a search to replace the outgoing executive director, Christian Buhagiar. After a careful search, the board agreed to bring on Joe Lyons-Rising to fill the role. Lyons-Rising will be a familiar face to many as a local entrepreneur and founder of the corporate training and consulting firm Data Gives Back, as well as a best-selling author with a history of community engagement.
With the executive director role filled, a new board of directors was also elected, with Indu Bains of Bainsco Consulting Group becoming president and Dave Robitaille of Stouffville Honda serving as vice president.
But with the reorganization complete, all attention will now be squarely on the slate of events coming down the pipe, including what has become the highlight of the business calendar, the Annual Chamber Spring Dinner, anchored, as usual, by Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt, who will share development insights and town priorities for the future. This year, the event is being held on May 21 at Station Creek Golf Club. The event will also serve as a platform to recognize outstanding contributions from the local business community with the Business Excellence Awards ceremony.
Corporate tables and sponsorships for the dinner are available. You can get more information on the chamber and events at stouffvillechamber.ca
