5th Annual Automotive Festival drives support for adults with disabilities

Steer Friends (SF) is gearing up to host its 5th Annual Automotive Festival at the Markham Fairgrounds on June 21, all in support of its capital building fund. The event helps SF expand its space and programs for adults with disabilities and complex care needs.

SF began with the Hall-Wilkins family, who faced a lack of support after their daughter Stephanie, who has cerebral palsy, completed high school and the government programs ended. There were no programs that supported her medical needs into adulthood. SF grew with a dedicated team to offer impactful programs that build a community of support and love to enrich lives. This year’s festival is also a heartfelt tribute to Stephanie, who recently passed away. Her legacy continues to shine through every life SF touches.

Attendees can look forward to seeing a variety of indoor and outdoor vehicle showcases that are unique, vintage and historical, as every car has a story to tell. There will be a motorcycle show, fun family activities, food trucks, entertainment for all ages, live music, industry vendors, and cash-only 50/50 raffle.

SF program manager Lisa-Marie Ciccia highlights community impact and support: “The Steering for Steer Friends Automotive Festival is incredibly impactful because it brings people together around a shared passion for cars, while supporting a meaningful cause. It not only raises essential funds for our programs at Steer Friends but also raises awareness about the importance of inclusion and accessibility for individuals with disabilities. The event creates a space where car enthusiasts, families, and supporters can connect, learn, and be part of something bigger, helping build a stronger, more compassionate community.”
