Stouffville welcomes new deputy fire chief
The Stouffville Fire and Emergency Services Department’s new deputy fire chief brings more than two decades of fire and emergency service experience to the post.
Mike Doyle, who will assume his new role on January 31, comes from Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services, where he began his career as a front-line firefighter. He served in progressive roles, including captain, district chief, assistant deputy chief and most recently deputy fire chief. Doyle has also acted as fire chief.
“Mike Doyle’s unparalleled expertise, strong leadership and commitment to service make him an outstanding addition to our Fire and Emergency Services team,” says Town of Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt. “His extensive experience and proven track record align perfectly with our vision for Stouffville’s future.”
Doyle’s qualifications include a fire and emergency services diploma from Humber College, advanced coursework in labour relations, and ongoing studies in public administration and governance at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). He’s also a certified emergency management coordinator and served as chair of a city-wide operational task force during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“His leadership, dedication and fire-ground experience will undoubtedly strengthen our Fire and Emergency Services department and enhance its ability to serve our community,” says Fire Chief Bill Snowball.
Doyle replaces Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Bignell, who resigned in November. Alongside fellow Deputy Fire Chief Trevor Wawryk, his leadership will help drive the department forward and prepare it for the future, the Town notes.
