Honouring our heroes
On November 9, the community will unite to honour the soldiers who fought for our freedom. The Markham District Veteran Association (MDVA) parade will commence at the MDVA Hall at 7 Washington St and conclude at the Markham Cenotaph at Hwy 7 and Markham Rd.
MDVA president Dennis Rutledge reminds us to “Look at the cenotaph, reflect on the sacrifices, and seek inspiration to work towards peace.”
Everyone is encouraged to attend and pay tribute to our fallen heroes.
In addition to the Markham ceremony, there will also be a Remembrance Day event in Unionville at the cenotaph in front of Crosby Arena and another ceremony at the Stouffville Legion. Both events take place on November 11.
At the stroke of eleven, residents will join millions of Canadians across the country in pausing for two minutes of silence to honour those who served and sacrificed for our freedoms.
