Community Health Clinic Stouffville opens expanded location

Community Health Clinic (CHC) Stouffville has expanded to a larger location to serve more patients with urgent, non-life-threatening conditions and is now accepting patients who have no access to a family doctor for routine primary care services. The clinic also offers rapid access for children with providers who specialize in paediatric care. The CHC is operated by Oak Valley Health, in partnership with the Eastern York Region North Durham Ontario Health Team (EYRND OHT) and Ontario Health.

“The expansion of the Stouffville clinic will allow us to serve even more members of the community at a time when many are struggling to find accessible primary care,” said Mark Fam, president and CEO of Oak Valley Health. “Looking to the future, we hope to expand services further to include access to physician and diagnostic services right here in the clinic to meet the needs of the growing community.”

Daniela Altomare, a patient of CHC Stouffville since September 2024, along with her two daughters, had been struggling to find a new primary care physician after her previous one left the country.

“Walk-in clinics were overwhelmed with sick patients, and we never saw the same doctor twice. I called over a dozen family doctors, but none were accepting new patients,” says Altomare. “That’s when I came across CHC on a local community Facebook page—someone had recommended it. When my daughter came down with an infection, I decided to give the clinic a try.”

“We never had to sit in a waiting room full of other sick patients. The fact that they have separate booking portals for children and adults (is a) huge bonus,” says Altomare. “I’m so grateful to the entire team at CHC Stouffville. Glad to say that when care is needed, we have someone to count on and a place that knows us. I’m happy to say that my daughters and I are patients of this clinic. It brings me such peace of mind, and I proudly share our experience with others and that this same service is available to those looking for primary care.”

The new clinic—located at 37 Sandiford Dr.— is more than 2,700 square feet, with seven exam rooms and a consultation office that is better equipped to provide more comprehensive assessments. Same or next-day appointments at the Stouffville CHC can be made at Oakvalleyhealth.ca/community.
